Job vacancy: Group Purchasing Manager

 

Key Responsibilities

The occupier of this role:

  • Evaluates and acts upon the operational requirements and stock levels for assigned commodities.
  • Negotiates pricing and lead-times with Suppliers
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the win/win.
  • Effectively communicates forecast requirements to external Suppliers and challenge/solve extended lead times in a manner required to meet the business risk.
  • Objectively measures and communicates Supplier performance to support Supply Chain continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be commercially and business risk aware and drives increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban, vendor managed inventory and Supplier consignment stock, as applicable.
  • Collaborative between Stores and Production functions.
  • Identify opportunities for purchasing process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience

The occupier of this role must have the following skills & experience:

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving/decision-making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of MS Office
  • Proficient in ERP systems
  • Prior experience implementing and managing a purchasing system.
  • Knowledge of supplier and component qualification processes and qualification criteria
  • Knowledge of supplier performance management practices, including supplier scorecards and performance metrics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organisational lines
  • Must have worked in a similar role and have demonstrable relevant experience
